How to Use IR Rescue

For Insulin-Resistant and Metabolically Challenged Horses

 

IR Rescue has been formulated for horses that require careful nutritional management due to metabolic sensitivity. These horses benefit from a feeding approach that prioritises controlled energy release, digestive stability, and consistency over volume or caloric load. Feeding IR Rescue correctly is as important as the formulation itself.

 

IR Rescue is designed to be fed as a nutritional support feed, not as a high-intake calorie source. For most horses, feed nothing but low-quality forage for 24 hours, then start at the recommended rate. This allows the digestive system to adapt and supports steady feed acceptance.

 

For the majority of insulin-resistant or metabolically challenged horses, IR Rescue is fed in small, measured meals, typically divided into two or more feeds per day. Smaller, consistent meals support more stable digestive function and help avoid unnecessary metabolic stress. Overfeeding is not beneficial and is not required to achieve good results with this formulation.

 

IR Rescue is intended to be fed alongside appropriate forage, with total forage intake managed according to the individual horse’s condition, workload, and environment. Forage selection should focus on quality and consistency, with attention paid to sugar and starch levels where possible.
